NDIS Housing and Accommodation Supports in Adelaide and Gold Coast: What Participants Need to Know

The right home and the right supports can change daily life
Housing and the supports delivered in a home are related, but not the same. In general, the NDIS funds disability supports and does not usually fund ordinary living costs (rent, groceries, utilities).
Common home and living supports
SIL is support delivered in the home (not rent) and is often based on a roster of care.
SDA is housing designed for people with very high needs, with specific eligibility requirements.
ILO is support to live in an arrangement that suits the person; NDIA is clear ILO funding does not pay for a house.
MTA is temporary accommodation while a long-term option is being arranged, with eligibility/time limits.
Short term respite is short stays with support, within NDIA guidance limits.

Home and living supports are different tools for different needs
Choosing the right option
Start with functional needs, risks, preferences, and goals, then align requests to evidence and “reasonable and necessary” rules.
